Stock PCM/ECM/ECU Reprogramming

Flash reprogramming is an important part of repairs and tune-ups on most 1996 and newer cars. Many times, reprogramming is the only way to repair a vehicle and eliminate false "Check Engine Soon" lights or MIL indicators, and will often fix engine and transmission problems that are not caused by mechanical issues. Vehicle manufacturers are constantly updating the firmware used in their automotive computers, and it's up to you to make sure your vehicle is running the most current firmware available. Many dealerships now use flash reprogramming as the first step for any vehicle diagnostics, and charge anywhere from $80 up to $200 for the procedure. ExaTorq is offering all reflashes for the year/make/models below for $70 when performed either on your vehicle or using your PCM/ECM/ECU. (There is no cost for stock reflashing done as part of a custom tune; see special note below for Ford programming.) Some PCMs/ECMs/ECUs are available at extra cost depending upon availability; please email us.

Note: VIN required for all bench (off the vehicle) reprogramming. Some applications require additional information; see below.

We have the latest reprogramming equipment and manufacturer reflash data to allow us to update the following vehicles:
  • General Motors and Saturn
    • On-Board Programming (in vehicle):
1996 and newer GM Powertrain/Body/Chassis flash reprogrammable controllers
1996 and newer Saturn Powertrain/Body/Chassis flash reprogrammable controllers
    • Off-Board Programming (on bench):
1996-2006 GM Powertrain flash reprogrammable controllers
1996-2006 Saturn Powertrain flash reprogrammable controllers
    1984-1995 GM OBD-1 PROM/MEMCAL-based controllers

Note: For Saturn tuning, we also need to know if your Saturn is equipped with remote keyless entry (RKE), anti-lock brakes (ABS), cruise control, traction control, and air conditioning. We also need to know the tire size.

  • Ford, Lincoln and Mercury
    • Note: There is a $30 non-refundable charge for stock programming attempts that fail due to customer sending the wrong Ford ECU. Please make sure the ECU ID matches exactly with the ID of the original ECU. Many remanufactured units do not retain the original Ford ID numbers, and we have received several incompatible ECUs as a result. Each incompatible ECU we attempt to program costs us. Please call us if you have any questions.

Note: For vehicles not listed, the only option available is to have Toyota order an ECU specific for your vehicle. This ECU will already have the latest calibration file preloaded.

Depending on the application, we can often order replacement PCMs/ECMs/ECUs. Pricing varies according to availability of cores. We can also perform CKP (crankshaft position relearn procedure) on most GM vehicles ($40; no charge if done in conjunction with a stock reflash or custom tune).
